If you believe you have symptoms of the traditional flu or H1N1 virus- please contact our office immediately: http://www.cdc.gov/H1N1flu/qa.htm ___________________________________ As we enter the flu season the concerns about H1N1 are growing. Details of treatment, distribution of vaccine, and symptoms are becoming clearer and state and local officials are working hard to come up with plans of care to meet the concern. www.HCHEALTH.org - has numerous links and support information to help you guide through this concern. Some things to consider: Tamiflu and Relenza which have been widely discussed in the media as a treatment format for H1N1 is not a cure. These products are anti-viral medications and may reduce the length of your symptoms, however, like anti-biotics should be taken only with physician approval and review. According to the CDC and the Depatment of Health only a very small % of the population will require these types of products. Anti-virals in general can have numerous side affects. http://www.tamiflu.com/sideeffects.aspx __________________________________ Vaccine: At this time we are working to obtain the H1N1 vaccine. However we have not been guaranteed vaccine, nor do we have an official date by which we may be supplied. It is also important to make sure not to skip your traditional flu vaccince. The H1N1 vaccine will not offer you adequet protection against the traditional virus strains. IF YOU OBTAIN THE FLU or H1N1 vaccince from a source other than our office, please notify the staff as to WHEN you obtained the vaccine for our records. It may become neccessary to re-vaccinate individuals later in the season whom obtained the vaccine earlier than suggested by the CDC. At this time We suggest that our patient base obtain the traditional flu vaccine during the middle/ late October. |
